Terrapins Sign Graduate Transfer Danielle Hack From UMass

COLLEGE PARK, MD — The University of Maryland women’s tennis program announced the signing of Danielle Hack on Tuesday. The graduate transfer from UMass will join the Terps for the 2024-25 season.

“We’re excited to have Dani joining us this fall. She comes to us with a wealth of experience and a proven winner playing at the top of UMass’s lineup. We believe she’ll thrive at Maryland on and off the court,” said Head Coach Katie Dougherty.

Hack finished the 2023-24 year with an impressive 22-8 record in singles play and 17-10 in doubles playing in the No. 1 spot for both. Hack played a huge role in helping UMass win the 2024 Atlantic 10 women’s tennis championship. Hack was also named the teams MVP for the 2024 spring season.

In 2022-23 Hack was selected for the Atlantic 10 All-Conference First Team and the Atlantic 10 All-Conference Second Team in 2021-22.

Hack comes to Maryland with a college career record of 55-23 in singles and 47-27.

From Surrey, England, Hack signed with UMass in December 2019, joining the team as a Freshman in the 2020-21 season.

Prior to joining UMass, Hack had a stellar juniors career:

  • Ranked No. 1 in under 18s for Surrey
  • Also ranked No. 3 in women’s for Surrey (highest ranked player in her age group)
  • Impact member of the Surrey County Cup team where the team were the runners up in the 2019 Women’s Group 1 against the top competition in England
  • Won the British Under 18 National Championships in doubles in the summer of 2019
  • Surrey 18-and-under singles champion and Women’s Open singles champion
  • Named the SportsPerson of the Year at her school, Riddlestown Collegiate

“I decided to attend Maryland because I believe it’s a really good match for both my tennis aspirations and academic pursuits,” said Hack.
