HANOVER, N.H. — The Rutgers women’s tennis team concluded its time at the Big Green Tournament in Hanover, N.H. on Sunday. The Scarlet Knights competed in eight singles matches against student-athletes from Yale and host Dartmouth, recording a total of six wins.
RU concludes the three-day event with 24 total victories in singles and doubles competitions against opponents from the Big Green and the Bulldogs, as well as the UMass Minutewomen.
In singles play, three Scarlet Knights had perfect weekends on the court. Jackeline Lopez, Yana Gurevich, and Mai Nguyen were all able to close out their fall seasons with a 3-0 finish.
Rutgers also had two doubles pairs, Lopez and Chloe Brown, and Tara Chilton and Minchae Kim, record undefeated tournaments.
Singles
RU recorded six singles victories to close out its time in New Hampshire, with Chilton, Lopez, Gurevich, and Nguyen defeating opponents from Yale. Daira Cardenas and Kim earned wins over student-athletes from Dartmouth.
Chilton, Gurevich, Nguyen, Kim, and Cardenas were all able to earn straight-sets victories over their respective opponents.
In Lopez’s match against Mirabelle Brettkelly, the junior took the first set, 6-1, before conceding the second, 6-2, to the Dartmouth junior. The Scarlet Knight was then able to claim the win in the third set, 10-7, to take the match.
