Tennis To Compete at Princeton Invitational


PRINCETON, N.J. — The Rutgers women’s tennis team is set to compete in the Princeton Invitational at the Lenz Tennis Center in Princeton, N.J. from Oct. 13-15.
 
Along with Rutgers and host Princeton, Temple, St. John’s, Drexel, and LIU will also be in attendance. 
 
Play is set to begin at 10 a.m. on Friday, Oct. 13, 9 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 14, and 3 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 15.

Last Time Out

Rutgers competed in ITA Regionals, hosted by Columbia University, from Oct. 6-8. The team finished with one quarterfinalist doubles team, and three players making it into the singles round of 16.

The doubles team of Tara Chilton and Yana Gurevich had a strong weekend, winning two matches to send themselves to the quarterfinals. After receiving a bye in the round of 64, the duo  competed in the rounds of 32 and 16 on Oct. 7, taking down doubles teams from Columbia and LIU. The pair’s regional run ended in the quarterfinals.

In singles play, Minchae Kim, Amira Badawi, and Gurevich all made it to the tournament’s round of 16. To get there, the trio each recorded three, two, and two singles wins, respectively.

Looking Ahead

Following the Princeton Invitational, Jackeline Lopez will represent the Scarlet Knights at the ITA Super Regional from Oct. 20-22. RU will then close out its fall season as a team at the Big Green Invitational from Nov. 3-5.
