Tennis Takes Two From Omaha Sunday

COLUMBIA, Mo. – The University of Missouri tennis team closed out the fall portion of its 2022-23 home schedule by sweeping a pair of matches against University of Nebraska-Omaha on Sunday at the Mizzou Tennis Complex.

Under sunny skies, the Tigers ran their season dual-meet record to 6-0. Mizzou swept all six doubles matches and all 12 singles matches for the third-straight event.

NOTABLES

  • Mae Canete, Laura Masic, Inah Canete and Romary Cardenas-Rifka all won two singles matches.
  • Gabriela Martinez, Koral Koldobski, Emelie Schwarte and Andrea Artimedi each picked up a single victory. Artimedi had the match clincher in the second session, the first of her Mizzou career. 
  • Schwarte closed out the afternoon match with a comebacker at No. 1 singles, dropping the first set 6-3, winning the second 6-2 and earning an 11-9 tiebreaker win in set three. 
  • Romary Cadenas-Rifka stepped in and won two matches at No. 6 singles, going 6-3, 6-0 in the morning and 6-1, 6-4 in the afternoon. 

COACH WOOTTON SAID …

“The last two weekends have really set the tone for our team. We showed passion, vision and fortitude to go 6-0 to start this year’s competitions. Our biggest feat as a team was going 42-0 in singles and doubles over these six matches. Now we look forward to taking that momentum into Fall individual tournaments that begin in two weeks at Vanderbilt.”
