COLUMBIA, Mo. – University of Missouri tennis opens up the 2023 Southeastern Conference Championship on Wednesday against Ole Miss in Fayetteville Arkansas. First serve is slated for noon CT from the Billingsley Tennis Center.
Thirteenth-seeded Mizzou (11-15) looks to snap a six-match skid against the 12th-seeded Rebels (9-12) who knocked off the Tigers on March 19, 2023 in Springfield, Missouri, by a 5-2 margin.
Following last weekend’s split – a loss to Arkansas and win over Saint Louis – Mae Canete moved up to No. 94 in the latest ITA singles rankings. On the doubles side, Mae Canete and Inah Canete are ranked No. 83 entering the week.
Tickets will not be required for admission to the 2023 Women’s SEC Tournament. All matches will be open to the public. All spectators should be aware of Arkansas’ Clear Bag Policy. The clear bag policy does not pertain to athletes competing and credentialed personnel entering the facility.
LAST TIME THEY MET – OLE MISS
Mizzou won the doubles point and saw four singles matches go to the third set, but lost a 5-2 decision to Ole Miss at the Cooper Tennis Complex in Springfield, Missouri. The Tigers got doubles win from second pairing Andrea Artimedi and Emelie Schwarte and third duo Romary Cardenas Rifka and Gabriela Martinez. Artemedi and Schwarte won a 9-7 tiebreaker while Cardenas and Martinez took a 7-3 tiebreaker. Mae Canete and Inah Canete had a 4-1 lead at No. 1 doubles but couldn’t close out Anaelle Leclercq and Ludmila Kareisova who won 7-5. In singles, Ole Miss won in straight sets at No. 5 and No. 6 and added a three-set win at No.3. Mae Canete won a 7-3, third-set tiebreaker for the victory at No. 1 singles to give Mizzou another point.
