PRINCETON, N.J. – The Rutgers women’s tennis team finished up the first day of action at the Princeton Fall Invitational.
The team recorded two doubles and six singles wins to start off competition at the three-day tournament.
Doubles
Rutgers started off the day with two doubles wins. The pairs of Chloe Brown/Amira Badawi (8-1) and Daira Cardenas/Mai Nguyen (8-7) both earned wins over UCONN.
Singles
The Scarlet Knights followed up doubles with a strong showing in singles, winning six of eight matches, all in two sets.
Jackeline Lopez defeated her opponent from LIU, with a quick 6-3, 6-3, decision. Tara Chilton and Mai Nguyem followed up with dominant 6-0, 6-0 wins, not allowing their opposition to take a single game.
Chloe Bronw battled back to get the victory, 7-5, 6-3. Finally, Daira Cardenas (6-3, 6-0) and Minchae Kim (6-4, 6-1) rounded out the day for RU with convincing wins.
