Tennis Completes Day One at ITA Regionals


PRINCETON, N.J. – The Rutgers women’s tennis team completed the first day of ITA Regionals, hosted by Princeton.  

Doubles  

Chloe Brown/Daira Cardenas continued their success together, improving to 4-0 this fall with an 8-7 (7) win over Fordham. The pair will continue onto the next round Saturday.  

Singles 

The Scarlet Knights went on to pick up four singles wins in the round of 128 and 64.  

Tara Chilton got things trending in the right direction with a straight set win over Lehigh in the round of 128, 6-2, 6-0. She then fell in the next round.  

Jackeline Lopez stayed perfect on the fall season, collecting her fourth singles win of the slate over Army, 6-1, 6-2. Through all four matches, she has yet to drop a set.  

Newcomers Amira Badawi (0-6, 6-4, 11-9) and Mai Nguyen (6-1, 6-1) also picked up wins in the round of 64.  

Lopez, Badawi and Nguyen will continue onto the round of 32 on Saturday.

Amira Badawi def. Leo Boisseau (LIU) 0-6, 6-4, 11-9 

Mai Nguyen def. Gibson Thomas (Penn) 6-1, 6-1 

Jackeline Lopez def. Carolyn Ahn (Army) 6-1, 6-2 

Up Next 

Rutgers will continue action at ITA Regionals on Saturday, Oct. 1 with the round of 32 in singles and round of 16 in doubles.
