PISCATAWAY, N.J. — Rutgers women’s tennis head coach Hilary Ritchie has named seniors Jackeline Lopez and Minchae Kim as co-captains for the upcoming 2025 spring season. Lopez, hailing from Dunwoody, Geogia, will enter the campaign as captain for the second-straight year, while Kim, a Netherlands native, earned the title for her final year.
“Minch and Jackie have proven themselves to be strong leaders,” Ritchie said. “Through their work ethic and character, I know they will do a terrific job this spring.”
Entering her second spring as captain, and fourth as a Scarlet Knight, Lopez has been a steady presence in the lineup. She has racked up 32 wins, 16 each in singles and doubles play, respectively. Last year she clinched RU’s first ever win against Minnesota and won her singles match against Michigan State in the Big Ten Tournament.
Entering her fourth year “On the Banks,” Kim has been a mainstay at the top of the lineup. She has totaled 44 wins In her career, 21 in singles and 23 in doubles play. Just last season, she finished second on the team with 11 singles wins and an impressive eight in Big Ten competition. Her singles win against Michigan State in the Big Ten Tournament clinched the win for the Scarlet Knights.
Looking back to the fall, Lopez and Kim combined for 26 wins across four events. Lopez tabbed nine singles wins and five doubles, while Kim collected six of each. Both were pivotal during the Brown Invite, sweeping singles play along with Kim’s double win to clinch the tournament win.
Being the only two seniors on the team this spring, the duo will look to build off the success they have accomplished over the last three seasons and look to lead the Scarlet Knights to new heights on and off the court.
