COLUMBIA, Mo. – The University of Missouri tennis head coach Bianca Turati announced the signing of Sarah Hartel on Thursday, Dec. 14, where the Heidelberg, Germany native inks her National Letter of Intent to join the Tigers to continue her athletic and academic career. Hartel will join the program in the fall of 2024 and will have four years of eligibility remaining.
Hartel recently earned the third-place title of the U18 German National Championships while attending Heidelberg College for her high school career.
“Sarah is a very hard worker and has an incredible potential. What’s really impressive about her game are her serve and her powerful groundstrokes from the baseline,” Turati said about Hartel’s signing. “She has recently achieved outstanding results, such as reaching the semifinals of the U18 German National Championships, proving that she’s among the best tennis players of her age in Germany. It’s so exciting to have her join our Mizzou tennis team next fall!”
Hartel joined forces with 2024 recruit Korina Roso in the Subotica Open 2022 hosted by Serbia in April of 2022. The doubles duo advanced to the competition’s semifinals, where they claimed victories in the first two rounds of the tournament.
“I like the coaches and the atmosphere they were showing me,” Hartel said about choosing Mizzou. “The campus is so beautiful, and the team is also great.”
