Tennessee Tennis Opens Season at No. 6 in ITA Rankings

The Intercollegiate Tennis Association announced its first set of rankings for the 2023 dual season Wednesday, with Tennessee tabbed as the sixth-ranked team in the nation to begin head coach Chris Woodruff‘s sixth season at the helm on Rocky Top.

The Vols have now been ranked inside the ITA top 10 each week since Jan. 27, 2021, totaling 707 consecutive days.

Tennessee is one of two schools nationally and the lone SEC program to hold a top-10 ITA ranking each week since Jan. 27, 2021. The other team to do so is TCU.

Last spring, Tennessee began the 2022 season as the fourth-ranked team in the ITA rankings before ascending to its first No. 1 national ranking in over a decade. UT held that designation on three occasions and for five weeks in all.

Tennessee opens the season at home versus Charlotte on Sunday, Jan. 8 at 1 p.m. ET, before playing host to Texas Tech on Monday, Jan. 9 at 4 p.m. ET.
