Tennessee Rallies Past Men’s Tennis

CHICAGO – Locked in a tight battle for the second-straight day, No. 17 Stanford men’s tennis dropped a match to No. 11 Tennessee, 4-3, on Saturday afternoon.

The Volunteers picked up the doubles point with wins in the top two positions to take an early 1-0 win. The Cardinal has split the doubles point over its first two matchups at the ITA Indoor Championships.

Stanford rallied to take a 3-1 lead, winning singles matches in straight sets by Max Basing, Neel Rajesh and Samir Banerjee. Basing and Banerjee took out ranked opponents, while Rajesh picked up a clean 6-0 win in his final set. The Volunteers fought back with wins in the first and fourth positions to tie the match at 3-3.

Aryan Chaudhary pulled back a crucial second set tiebreaker in the fifth position, 8-6, but fell in the third set, 6-3, to clinch the result.
