Tech Travels to #48 Clemson & Boston College – Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets

THE FLATS – The Georgia Tech men’s tennis team (9-7, 0-2 ACC) returns to action this weekend with two conference road matches at No. 48 Clemson (9-5, 0-2 ACC) and Boston College (6-4, 0-2 ACC). Tech starts with a midweek match at Clemson on Wednesday, March 15 at 5 p.m. and will then travel to Boston College for a 10 a.m. match on Sunday, March 19.

All three teams have lost two conference matches so far this season. The Jackets opened conference play with a 6-1 loss to No. 16 Wake Forest and 4-2 loss to No. 20 NC State. Clemson also fell to those two teams while Boston College was defeated by No. 9 North Carolina and No. 13 Duke.

Tech’s three ranked players have continued to be the backbone of the team. No. 34 Andres Martin is 12-4 in dual match play. He has won eight of his last 10 matches, including a 6-3, 6-4 victory of NC State’s No. 75 Rafa Izquierdo Luque.

With a 12-3 record in dual match action, No. 47 Marcus McDaniel have five wins over nationally ranked players. No. 85 Keshav Chopra has been a relatively important player for the team with a 10-5 dual match record and 3-3 record over ranked opponents.

Tech has relied on its top doubles pair, No. 21 Martin and McDaniel, in many matches throughout the season. Coming off a loss and unfinished match, the duo looks to reclaim their win streak and provide support to the team in clinching the doubles points this week. They have won an impressive nine out of their last 10 matches.

Last spring, the Jackets had dominant victories over both teams during the regular season.
