Tech stifiled by No. 35 Florida State


Tallahassee, Fla. – Virginia Tech women’s tennis (10-7, 1-6) lost to No. 35 Florida State, 5-2, on Friday night.

The Hokies were in strong pursuit of the doubles point with Erika Cheng back in the lineup for Tech playing alongside Sabina Richtrova on Court 3, the pairing came up just short, 7-5. Semra Aksu and Katie Andreini put forth great effort but fell in the tiebreak, 7-4, giving the Seminoles the 1-0 advantage.

Tamara Barad Itzhaki notched Tech’s first point in the match behind a dominant 6-3, 6-3, drubbing of her FSU challenger. Özlem Uslu finished the match on a high note with a ranked victory against No. 108 Vic Allen, 6-7(3), 6-3, 1-0(7).
