Durham, NC – The Hokies fall 6-1 to the Blue Devils on Friday afternoon in the first of two road matches this weekend.
Duke took the doubles point with wins on Courts 1 and 3. Charlotte Cartledge and Özlem Uslu were in a tight battle on Court 2 but the match was left unfinished before they could come back from down 4-3.
The Blue Devils took straight-set wins on Courts 2, 3, and 4 to clinch the match.
On Court 1, Uslu picked up a singles win over No. 82 Emma Jackson as she mounted a three-set comeback. Going down 5-7 in the first set, Uslu won the second set in a dominant 6-0 manner before rounding off the match with a 6-1 third-set win.
On Courts 5 and 6, Erika Cheng and Laima Frosch took their respective competitors to three sets but both ultimately fell short.
UP NEXT: The Hokies travel to Chapel Hill to take on UNC in their final road match of the season on Sunday, April 7 at 1 p.m.
