The Hokies would again struggle in doubles play, failing to secure a point after holding a small lead on courts one and two. Court three would be the first to fall, as Alex Ix and Michael Shepheard fell 2-6. Ryan Fishback and Maxime St. Hilaire would face a top ranked duo and fall to No. 14 Antoine-Cornut-Chauvinc and Joshua Dous-Karpenschif. Matt Harper and Alberto Orso held an early 4-2 lead before ending without a final result, stopping at 5-5.
Tech stumbled out of the gates in singles play, dropping three straight matches as Florida State earned victories on courts three, two and four in order.
The first team point for the Hokies came on court four, with freshman Benjamin Pomeranets earning a 6-4, 6-4 win over Joshua Dous-Karpenschif, for yet another impressive win in his freshman campaign.
Alberto Orso fell on court six in a tiebreaker after splitting the first two sets. He fell to Azariah Rusher 5-10 in the final set tiebreaker.
