TCU Invitational Up Next for Fighting Illini

CHAMPAIGN, Ill. – This weekend, the Fighting Illini women’s tennis team is headed to Fort Worth, Texas, for the TCU Invitational from Oct. 27-29. Action is slated to be outdoors at the Bayard H. Friedman Tennis Center.

Eight Illini student-athletes are slated to compete in Texas, with senior Kate Duong not making the trip (non-injury, coach’s decision).

Baylor, BYU, Kansas, Kansas State, Notre Dame, and TCU will all be represented, along with the Orange and Blue. Play will feature a hidden dual format. Doubles matches will be pro sets to 8 with tiebreakers at 7-7. Singles matches will feature super-tiebreakers for third sets.

Competition for Illinois will begin on Friday with doubles action at 1:30 against TCU and Baylor, immediately followed by seven players in singles action against a combination of TCU and Baylor athletes. At 5 p.m., one Illini doubles team will square off against Kansas State, with an Illinois individual to immediately follow facing a KSU competitor.

On Saturday at 10 a.m., Illinois will play four doubles matches against a combination of Kansas State and BYU tandems. Immediately after, all eight Illini singles players will face off against Kansas State and BYU players.

Sunday’s action will commence at 9:30 a.m., when four Illinois duos face Kansas. Eight singles matches against the Jayhawks will immediately follow.
