Tar Heel Men Dot Preseason ITA Singles & Doubles Rankings

CHAPEL HILL, N.C.—Three University of North Carolina men’s tennis singles players and two doubles teams grabbed spots in the 2022-23 Preseason ITA Rankings, released on Tuesday by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association.

Graduate student Brian Cernoch, a three-time All-America, tops the Tar Heels in the singles rankings at No. 11. A pair of graduate transfers from Princeton University also earned ranks. Ryan Seggerman was ranked No. 43 and Karl Poling was No. 107.  Both Seggerman and Poling joined the UNC program this summer and are pursuing Masters in Business Administration degrees at UNC’s Kenan-Flagler Business School.

Cernoch and Seggerman tied for No. 26 in the preseason doubles rankings, while junior Logan Zapp and sophomore Casey Kania tied for No. 41.

The Tar Heels will kick off their Fall schedule on September 16 in Knoxville, Tenn., at the Knoxville Showdown.
