COLUMBUS, Ohio – Chelsea Fontenel and Marianna Argyrokastriti earned their team-high ninth singles win of the season on Sunday afternoon against No. 6 Ohio State, but it wasn’t enough for the No. 20 Sun Devils to slow the Buckeyes, as they were bested, 5-2, at the Ty Tucker Tennis Center.
Fontenel and Argyrokastriti provided the scoring, but it was too little too late. The Buckeyes had claimed the doubles point with wins on Courts 1 and 3, marking the first time this season that the Sun Devils lost in doubles play.
In a 1-0 hole, the Buckeyes tacked on quick wins on Courts 6, 1 and 2 to clinch the match. It didn’t deter Fontenel and Argyrokastriti, who powered through and wiped out their opponents in straight sets.
