When: Saturday, April 22 at 6 p.m. MT

Where: Whiteman Tennis Center, Tempe, Ariz.

Notes

Series: ASU leads Arizona 8-5

Last Meeting

Arizona 6, ASU 1 on March 26, 2022

History – ASU leads Arizona 8-5 in overall wins between the rivalry programs. However the Wildcats have defeated the Sun Devils the last two years in a row, and swept ASU 4-0 on their home courts in 2021. The Sun Devils only have two conference victories this season whereas the ‘Cats hold five. Last weekend the Wildcats suffered a heartbreaking 3-4 loss to #19 Utah who ended Arizona’s 7-game winning streak and tarnished their opportunity for an outright regular season conference title clinch. If the Utes fall to USC on Sunday, April 21, and the ‘Cats defeat ASU tomorrow night then Arizona would still clinch a share of the regular season title with the Trojans.

Latest ITA Polls – The ‘Cats are still well-represented in the latest batch of ITA National Rankings with two Wildcats in the top 70 individuals and two doubles duos in the top 90: #36 Jonas Ziverts, #68 Colton Smith, #49 Ziverts/Jay Friend and #85 Ziverts/Herman Hoeyeraal. The Sun Devils have one ranked singles player, #40 Murphy Cassone, and one doubles pair, #54 Jacob Bullard/Constantinos Koshis.

What’s Next – After their final regular season match against ASU, the Wildcats gear up for the Pac-12 Tournament in Ojai, Calif. from Wednesday, April 26 to Sunday, April 29th. Draws will be released next week after all of the conference matches have wrapped up.
