EAST LANSING, Mich. – Michigan State men’s tennis opened action on Thursday in hosting the ITA Midwest Regional Championships.
Thursday’s action was all singles play, with Friday’s action starting with two rounds of doubles matches, now starting at 8:30 a.m., with one round of singles matches to follow.
MSU had one player playing in Thursday’s opening action, with freshman Mitchell Sheldon making his home debut as a Spartan and beating Remi St. Laurent of Marquette, 6-0, 6-2. Sheldon was dropped in his next match, falling to Ashton Adesoro of Western Michigan, 3-6, 6-7 (4).
Paired up for the Spartans are juniors Ozan Baris/Aristotelis Thanos, senior Max Sheldon/freshman Matthew Forbes, sophomore Taym Alazmeh/freshman Danial Rakhmatullayev and freshman Mitchell Sheldon/junior David Saye. They will all compete in doubles and singles matches in the Main Draw.
