EAST LANSING, Mich. – Michigan State men’s tennis will split action this weekend, with players competing at the Big Ten Indoor Championships and the ITA Sectionals, Thursday-Sunday, Nov. 7-10.
After finishing up his time at the Fighting Irish Mini Duals, freshman Danial Rakhmatullayev will head to Madison, Wisconsin for the B1G Indoor Championships at UW’s Nielsen Tennis Stadium.
Fellow Spartans freshman Matthew Forbes, redshirt junior Aristotelis Thanos, and senior Max Sheldon head to Fort Worth, Texas for ITA Sectionals at TCU’s Bartzen Varsity Courts.
At the B1G Indoor Championships in Wisconsin, match play starts on Thursday and continues through the final round on Sunday.
In Texas, Sheldon and Forbes will compete as doubles partners, along with in singles matches, joining Thanos.
Starting the day for the Spartans, Thanos goes up against William Mroz of Illinois at 12 p.m. ET / 11 a.m. CT. Sheldon will take on Gavin Young from Michigan at 2 p.m. ET / 1 p.m. CT. At the same time, Forbes competes against Oskar Brostrom Poulsen from Baylor.
ITA sectionals is an NCAA Qualifier, they must finish in the top six of singles and/or top three for doubles to qualify for the NCAA Championships, which take place Nov. 19-24.
Rakhmatullayev will head to Wisconsin to participate in the B1G Indoor Championships. He will compete in the singles portion of the tournament.
