Six Blue Devils in Top 100 of Preseason ITA Rankings

DURHAM – The Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) released its preseason singles and doubles rankings this week with three Duke women’s tennis standouts in the top eight and six in the top 100 as the Blue Devils get set to open the 2022 fall season in less than a week.

In the singles ledger, Duke was the only school to feature three in the top eight with senior Chloe Beck (5), graduate student Cameron Morra (6) and senior Georgia Drummy (8) listed. Graduate student Brianna Shvets (57), graduate student Iuliia Bryzgalova (70) and sophomore Emma Jackson (100) were also in the top 100.

Duke also featured three doubles teams in the preseason rankings – Karolina Berankova/Drummy were No. 5, Beck/Coleman were No. 18 and Morra/Bryzgalova were No. 48.

Beck, who hails from Watkinsville, Ga., is coming off an All-American season a year ago in which she totaled a 34-11 overall record in singles, including a perfect 13-0 ledger in ACC action.  She also netted 27 doubles wins as well.  Drummy, a two-time All-American, has collected a 46-15 record in singles to go along with 34 doubles wins over her two seasons with the Blue Devils.

After a decorated four-year career at North Carolina, Morra enters this season with an 87-33 singles mark and 102 doubles wins.  She is a three-time All-American in singles and two-time All-American in doubles.  Shvets arrives at Duke with a 59-26 ledger in singles and 46 doubles wins over the last four seasons at Princeton.  Bryzgalova was a 2022 First Team All-Ivy selection in singles and doubles, while collecting a 23-7 singles mark as a senior at Penn.

An All-ACC Third Team selection as a freshman, Jackson is coming off a rookie season where she registered 23 singles wins and 12 doubles victories.  One of the top doubles’ players for the Blue Devils over the last two seasons, Berankova has collected 37 doubles wins over her Duke career.

Duke will open the fall campaign Sept. 16-18 at both the Furman Fall Classic and the Milwaukee Tennis Classic.
