Singles Trip Up Boilers - Purdue Boilermakers

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind.- The Purdue men’s tennis team fell short of a victory on Friday. The 2-5 defeat came after the Blue Demons won four straight in singles.

The Boilermakers leapt out to a 1-0 lead after an incredible showing in doubles. Two pairs went down early, but each duo lit a fuze to spark outstanding comebacks. Mujtaba Ali-Khan/Milledge Cossu easily handled their match 6-2, claiming their third win of the season.

Both matches at No. 1 and 3 dug out deep holes. Michal Wozniak/Tomasz Dudek trailed 1-2 to the Blue Demons before coming back to grind their opposition down with a 6-4 victory that clinched the early lead for Purdue. Julen Morgan/Hassan Baroudi led 6-5 on their way to a seventh set when the Boilers clinched their third doubles point of the year.

The fiery start was quickly extinguished by the Blue Demons when they won four straight in the singles matches.

Despite the loss, the Boilers finished strong. Wozniak improved his win streak to 3 with his first win of the season at No. 1.
