THE FLATS – Richard Biaigotti has officially committed to join the Georgia Tech men’s tennis program. Biagiotti hails from Lunderskov, Denmark and comes to the Flats as a two-time national champion.
In 2019, Biagiotti helped lead his team to a Denmark Team Championship by winning the Doubles National title. He earned his first ATP Tour ranking after defeating the top seeded player, who was ranked 661 in the world, at an Italian ITF Pro Circuit event.
“We are excited to welcome Richard to the Yellow Jacket family. He will have an immediate positive impact on our team who will have our top players returning for their 5th year in 2023-24. He has had some good success on the futures pro tour and his game is big enough to help us in his first year. We have a great culture of hard work on and off the court as well as high integrity expectations. Richard will fit in well with our culture,” Byer’s Men’s Tennis Head Coach Kenny Thorne said.
Competitive Drive Initiative
In a unified endeavor, Georgia Tech, the Georgia Tech Foundation, Georgia Tech athletics and the Alexander-Tharpe Fund have come together to accelerate funding for student-athlete scholarships with the launch of the Competitive Drive Initiative. The initiative kicks off with the Accelerate GT Match Program, where any new gift to the A-T Fund’s Athletic Scholarship Fund made through Dec. 31 will be matched dollar-for-dollar by the Georgia Tech Foundation, up to $2.5 million. Should Accelerate GT reach its $2.5 million fundraising goal, the matching gift would result in a $5 million impact for Georgia Tech athletics.
