EUGENE, Ore. – Ray Lo went 2-0 in the Duck Invite today in Eugene.
The pair of Ray Lo and August Gustafson claimed a victory over the University of Portland’s Oscar Brown and Nikolas Tvedt 8-6. After an early back-and-forth exchange Lo and Gustafson used a 4-2 break to propel them to an eventual 5-2 lead. After the Portland pair rallied to even the contest, the back-and-forth continued until the duo of Lo and Gustafson closed with a match-sealing break point.
In singles play, Lo took home a big victory on the day against Portland’s Eleftherios Neos in a three-set final of 7-5, 4-6, 6-3. With things notched at 4-4 in the first, the junior claimed three of the next four games to capture set one. Theos of Portland responded strongly in the second set, taking the final three games to even things at one set apiece. In the deciding third set, Lo came out firing, winning the first three games and never looking back, bringing home a win on the day.
Action continues Saturday morning when the Ducks play induvial matches vs. student-athletes from Washington at 9 a.m. Portland players will go head-to-head with Portland state individuals.
