In doubles, courts one and two raced to finish first, and it was No. 16 Angelica Blake and Alexis Blokhina wrapping up a 6-1 win for their 16th dual match victory of the season. They were followed closely by Emma Sun and Alexandra Yepifanova, also 6-1 winners on two to give the Cardinal an early lead.
All six first sets in singles went Stanford’s way, with Sara Choy finishing first on court six, a 6-1, 6-0 winner. The win improves Choy’s record to 17-3 in dual matches this spring. Freshman Blokhina, ranked No. 84 nationally, was next, with a 6-0, 6-2 win on court four. With three different matches just one game away from the clincher for Stanford, No. 29 Yepifanova rallied from down 4-0 in the second set to win a 6-2, 6-4 decision and wrap up the team victory. Connie Ma, Blake and Valencia Xu were all inches away from winning on their respective courts. Yepifanova has now won 17 matches in a row and improves to 10-0 on court one.
Still owning the nation’s longest active win streak, Stanford has won 19 in a row and improves to 22-2 overall on the season.
