Elena Rybakina’s second title of 2024 has taken her back to No.4 in this week’s updated WTA rankings.
The 24-year-old Kazakh, who defeated Daria Kasatkina for her seventh career title this weekend in Abu Dhabi, vaults Jessica Pegula, who drops to No.5. Rybakina is the only mover inside the WTA’s Top 10 this week.
There wasn’t much action in the Top 20 either. Kasatkina jumped a spot to No.13, flip-flopping with Brazil’s Beatriz Haddad Maia, while Madison Keys and Petra Kvitova each slid up a spot as Veronika Kudermetova dropped two spots to No.18.
At the top of the WTA rankings, Iga Swiatek remains. The Pole is commencing her 89th week at No.1 this week (10th all-time, and nine weeks behind Lindsay Davenport (98 weeks).
Pliskova Begins Ascent
There were some movers and shakers lower down the rankings table, however. Former World No.1 Karolina Pliskova was the biggest riser inside of the Top 100 this week. The 31-year-old Czech, who won her first title in over four years, defeating Ana Bogdan for the Transylvania Open title, rises 18 spots to No.59.
Bogdan is the second-biggest riser in the Top 100. The Romanian jumped 11 spots to No.55 thanks to her run to the final on home soil.
Step by Step, Emma
Three tournaments into her comeback from multiple surgeries, Emma Raducanu is steadily climbing up the rankings. She has won three and lost three, and reached the second round at Abu Dhabi, defeating Marie Bouzkova before losing to Ons Jabeur.
Raducanu rises from 296 to 262 (+34).
Anastasia Sevastova is also on the comeback trail. Three tournaments into her comeback from maternity leave, the Latvian is rebuilding her ranking nicely. The former World No.11, now 33, reached the quarterfinals at Cluj-Napoca last week, and rises from 656 to 482 (+174).
