MARIBOR, Slovenia –– Alabama’s Filip Planinsek won the Slovenian national title for the second consecutive year on Saturday.
Planinsek battled his way through five rounds to clinch the national title, including winning his first four matches in straight sets. In the finals, Planinsek rallied after suffering an opening set 7-5 loss to take a second-set tiebreaker at 7-4 before clinching the crown with a dominate 6-0 third-set performance.

- His 2021 Slovenian Senior title earned him a spot in next week’s Velenje $15k in the singles main draw
- By winning the national title Saturday, he also secured a singles main draw wild card entry to the Litija $15k (July 11) and a qualifying singles wild card entry to the Radomlje $25k (July 18)
