Baton Rouge, La. –– Alabama women’s tennis junior Petra Sedlackova defeated Kinaa Graham of LSU (6-0, 2-6, 6-1) to claim the ITA Southern Regional Women’s Singles Championship on Tuesday. Sedlackova earned the ITA Southern Regional Singles title for the first time in her career as UA won the event title for the third time in program history and first time since Alexa Guarachi won it in 2012.
Sedlackova dominated set one, winning all six games against Graham, which included an 11-point run. In set two, Sedlackova battled but fell short 2-6 before turning around in the final set and winning 6-1 to secure the title.
When asked her thoughts about winning the ITA Southern Regional Singles Championship all Sedlackova had to say was, “hard work pays off.”
