BATON ROUGE, La. – The Alabama women’s tennis team continued play at the ITA Southern Regional Championships Sunday, which is being held at the LSU Tennis Complex. The Crimson Tide’s fourth day at the event was highlighted by Petra Sedlackova’s straight-set victory to advance to the semifinals of this year’s event.
Main Draw
Singles Quarterfinals
- Petra Sedlackova defeated LSU’s Nikita Vishwase with her 6-1, 6-4 win
- The victory allowed Sedlackova to reach the semifinals of the tournament
- Loudmilla Bencheikh competed against LSU’s Anastasia Komar
- After taking a 6-4 win in the first set, Bencheikh narrowly dropped the final two sets, falling 7-6(3), 7-5
Doubles Quarterfinals
- The team of Ola Pitak and Kasia Pitak defeated South Alabama’s Luminita Tutunaru and Elysia Pool 8-5, to advance in the main draw
- Anna Parkhomenko and Petra Sedlackova also had a big win Sunday, taking down Irene Artigas Taberner and Polina Ramenskaja of Jacksonville State, 8-1
Doubles Semifinals
- UA’s tandem of Anna Parkhomenko and Petra Sedlockova had their run come to a close in the doubles main draw semifinals
- The duo fell to LSU’s Maggie Cubitt and Mia Rabinowitz 6-2, 1-6, 6-4
Next Up In Singles
- Sedlackova will compete in the singles semifinals round Monday at 10 a.m. CT where she will square off against Ole Miss’ Lillian Gabrielsen
