UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – The Penn State Women’s tennis team will head to Blacksburg, Va. To compete it the ITA Atlantic Regional beginning on Thursday, Oct. 20. The tournament will be hosted by Virginia Tech University. All matches are to be played the Burrows-Burleson Tennis Center.
Sofiya Chekhlystova, Olivia Dorner, Karly Friedland, Ioana Gheorghita, Carla Girbau, Alina Lebedeva and Yvonne Zuffova will all be traveling to the tournament this weekend for the Nittany Lions.
SCHEDULE OF PLAY
THURSDAY, OCTOBER 20th:
- Two rounds of qualifying singles
FRIDAY, OCTOBER 21st:
- One round of Main Draw Doubles
- Rounds of 64 and 32 Main Draw Singles
SATURDAY, OCTOBER 22nd:
- Rounds of 32 and 16 Doubles
- Round of 16 Singles
- Consolation rounds for both singles and doubles
SUNDAY, OCTOBER 23rd:
- Quarterfinal and semifinal rounds of doubles
- Quarterfinals round of singles
- Consolation rounds for both singles and doubles
MONDAY, OCTOBER 24th:
- Semifinal and Final rounds of singles
- Doubles final round
Play is slated to begin at 8 a.m. for inside courts and at 9 a.m. for outside courts on Thursday, Friday and Saturday. Start times for Sunday and Monday are to be determined.
