Oregon Men’s Tennis Named an ITA All-Academic Team

EUGENE, Ore. — Oregon’s men’s tennis team has been named an ITA All-Academic Team for the 2021-22 season, it was announced today. In addition, Ryoma Matsushita, Avi Shugar and Luke Vandecasteele were named ITA Scholar Athletes.
 
Among the qualifying criteria, student-athletes had to carry a grade-point average (GPA) of 3.5 or higher for the 2021-22 academic year. As a team, the Ducks had to maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.2 or higher to earn the distinction.
 
It is the second-straight year of academic honors for Matsushita and Vandecasteele. Matsushita notched eight wins this season for the Ducks, while Shugar finished with six. Vandecasteele played at the fifth spot in the lineup throughout the season and recorded 16 wins, including the clinching point in the victory over Arizona State in the last conference match of the season.
