TEMPE, Ariz. – The Syracuse tennis doubles duo of sophomore Miyuka Kimoto and junior Polina Kozyrevaearned a spot in the preseason ITA Division I women’s rankings, the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) announced on Tuesday Afternoon. The pair enter the season ranked 11th in the women’s doubles category.
The pair made an appearance the in the first round of the NCAA Championship in Champaign, Illinois, where they fell to the No. 6 ranked duo of Jayci Goldsmith and Tatiana Markarova from Texas A&M, 6-2, 6-1. Their appearance at NCAA’s marked the sixth time that a Syracuse duo has made the tournament.
During her freshman campaign, Kimoto led the team in doubles wins with 12. The Oita, Japan native collected 22 wins in the spring, tying with Kozyreva for the most spring wins during the 2022 spring season.
This past spring Kozyreva opened the 2022 season by winning nine consecutive singles matches, taking all in straight sets. The Belgorod, Russia native logged a career-high 22 wins in singles and doubles play last season.
At the conclusion of last season, Kozyreva and Kimoto finished the season ranked 18th by the ITA with a record of 9-8. During the dual meet season, the two posted a 5-2 doubles mark in the No. 1 doubles category. Three of the five victories came over ranked opponents.

Syracuse is set to open the fall season, partaking the in the Army Invitational which runs from Friday, September 23rd to Sunday, September 25th.
