Ole Miss Women’s Tennis Travels to Baton Rouge for ITA South Regionals

OXFORD, Miss. – Ole Miss women’s tennis travels to Baton Rouge, Louisiana, for the ITA Southern Regional hosted at the LSU Tennis Complex. The event begins Thursday, Oct. 13, and concludes on Tuesday, Oct. 18.
 
The ITA South Regional will feature a 64-participant draw in singles and a 32-pairing draw in doubles. Both draws are single elimination. Winning the event ensures automatic placement in the ITA Fall National Championships (Nov. 2-6 in San Diego, California).
 
Ole Miss will have five Rebels in the main draw of singles and two pairs of Rebels in the main draw of doubles. Rachel Krzyzak is slated as No. 8 in singles with Reka Zadori close behind at the No. 11 seed.
 
At the 2021 ITA Southern Regional Championships, Rebel doubles duo Kelsey Mize and Ludmila Kareisová punched their ticket into the doubles final. Mize and Kareisová also earned entry into the ITA Fall National Championships by placing as a finalist. The two will return as partners in this year’s competition as the No. 12 seed looking to reach the doubles final once again.
 
Doubles partners Krzyzak and Lillian Gabrielsen sit at the No. 9 seed in the doubles main draw, achieving a bye to the Round of 16.

OLE MISS ITA REGIONAL CHAMPIONS:
 
Ole Miss student-athletes have won nine ITA Regional Championship Titles – six in singles and three in doubles. Notably, Rebels won both titles in 1997 with Agnes Muzamel winning in singles and Muzamel and Courtenay Chapman claiming the doubles title as well.  Muzamel is the only Ole Miss tennis player to have won both the singles and doubles regional championship in the same year.
