Ole Miss’ Kareisova and Gabrielsen Garner Spots in Final ITA Fall Rankings

OXFORD, Miss. – A pair of Ole Miss women’s tennis players saw their names amongst the nation’s best after the Rebel duo received spots in the ITA’s final fall rankings, the Intercollegiate Tennis Association announced on Wednesday.
 
Ludmila Kareisova and Lillian Gabrielsen both played their way into earning spots in the ITA’s top 100 singles players in the nation to wrap up their fall seasons, with Kareisova receiving a ranking of 73rd in the country while Gabrielsen followed closely behind with a ranking of 89th overall.
 
Kareisova ends her fall season going 3-3 in singles play, finishing out her year on a red-hot three-match winning streak for the Rebels. The sophomore grabbed a pair of ranked victories to cap off her season including taking down Duke’s Emma Jackson, who at the time was ranked 100th in the nation but has since moved up to the No. 22 singles player in the country.
 
The No. 73 ranking for Kareisova marks the first time of her collegiate career that she has earned a singles ranking from the ITA. The Liberec, Czechia, native has been ranked in doubles play for the Rebels, reaching a peak of No. 8 in the country during her freshman stint.
 
Gabrielsen’s No. 89 ranking to wrap up the fall season comes as little surprise following her dominant start to her senior campaign, as the Oslo, Norway, native sported a team-high seven singles wins including victories over two ranked opponents.
 
Gabrielsen hit her stride for the Rebels at the ITA Southern Regional Championships, blazing through the singles bracket to ultimately finish as the tournament’s singles runner-up and earning a spot at the ITA National Fall Championships.
 
Kareisova, Gabrielsen and the rest of the Ole Miss women’s tennis squad will now await the turn of the New Year to kick off their 2023 spring dual schedule, with the ITA set to announce their preseason team rankings Jan. 4.
