WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – The Purdue women’s tennis team is heading back on the road for the ITA Ohio Valley Regional Championship hosted by Tennessee.
Starting today, sophomore Carmen Gallarado Guevara, freshman Kennedy Gibbs, sophomore Tara Katarina Milic, and redshirt senior Liz Norman will compete in the tournament.
The ITA Ohio Valley Regional Championship will feature players from 24 teams throughout the region. Highlights include Butler, IUPUI and rival Indiana.
The Boilermaker’s most recent fall event also took place in Tennessee when the team went to the June Stewart Invitational hosted by Vanderbilt.
On the last day of the invitational, Purdue had a strong outing in singles with six Boilermakers wins. Freshman Antonia Pareja only lost one set in her match and defeated her opponent 6-0, 6-1.
Junior Rut Galindo had a perfect weekend in singles. She went 3-0 throughout the invitational. In Galindo’s last match on the event, she fought through a tie break to win the first set 7-6 (7-3) and the second set 6-3.
In doubles, Purdue had a successful first and second day. The team of sophomore Juana Larranaga and freshman Ashlie Wilson won two of their three matches of the invitational. Both matches had a final score of 6-3.
