WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. (April 28, 2023) – No. 61 Northwestern women’s tennis (12-13, 7-4 B1G) saw its 2022-23 season brought to an end this afternoon, falling to No. 21 Wisconsin in the quarterfinals of the Big Ten Tournament by a 4-0 final inside the Schwartz Tennis Center in West Lafayette, Ind.
After dropping the doubles point, Northwestern battled valiantly in singles play. Christina Hand (7-6 (7-4)) and Justine Leong (7-6 (7-3)) both pushed to take an early lead in their head-to-head matchups, each falling in tiebreakers.
Briana Crowley and Sydney Pratt each bounced back from 7-5 first-set defeats with 6-2 victories to force a third set, ultimately seeing both of their matches go unfinished.
Head Coach Claire Pollard is expected to welcome back six letterwinners for the 2023-24 season, a group highlighted by All-Big Ten honorees in Leong and Maria Shusharina. The ‘Cats are also set to add a pair of newcomers in Autumn Rabjohns and Neena Feldman.
