NORTH CAROLINA WINS 2023 NCAA WOMEN'S TENNIS DOUBLES NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP

GREENSBORO, N.C. (theACC.com) – North Carolina’s Fiona Crawley and Carson Tanguilig are the 2023 NCAA Women’s Tennis Doubles Champions after earning a 6-1, 2-6, 11-9, win over teammates Reese Brantmeier and Elizabeth Scotty. This marks UNC’s third doubles NCAA Championship in program history and the fourth in Atlantic Coast Conference history, as the league wins in back-to-back seasons (NC State in 2022).

It was the first time the doubles title match featured two teams from UNC and the second time two ACC teams competed for the Championship. With national titles in 2007, 2021 and now 2023, this is also the second time in three years the Tar Heels have secured the doubles Championship.

The Tar Heels recorded their most successful year in program history after winning the 2023 NCAA Women’s Tennis Championship, their seventh ITA National Fall Championship on top of an 18-0 record at home.

The ACC has the most 2022-23 NCAA championships with eight. Overall, the 15 NCAA titles by the ACC in the last two academic years are the most of any conference. The ACC has won NCAA championships this academic year in Women’s Cross Country (NC State), Field Hockey (North Carolina), Men’s Soccer (Syracuse), Women’s Swimming & Diving (Virginia), Fencing (Notre Dame), Women’s Tennis (North Carolina), Men’s Tennis (Virginia) and Women’s Golf (Wake Forest). In addition, North Carolina women’s tennis won the 2023 ITA National Indoor Championship.
