LOS ANGELES- The No. 7 ranked USC men’s tennis team (4-0) remains unbeaten as it prevailed 5-2 against UNLV (4-2) on Saturday, February 3 at Marks Tennis Stadium.
USC’s No. 1 doubles squad in Peter Makk and Lodewijk Weststrate opened doubles with a 6-3 win. Volodymyr Iakubenko and Samuel Rubell followed suite with a 7-5 win to snag the doubles point for the Trojans.
#94 Karl Lee breezed through his No. 5 singles match winning 6-2, 6-1, as he earned USC’s first singles win of the day.
Second to finish for the Trojans was #73 Weststrate as he bested his opponent in straight sets, 6-2, 6-2.
Playing at No. 3 Iakubenko clinched the match for USC with a 6-4, 6-1 win. The freshman has been off to a great start in his USC career, clinching three out of the season’s four matches so far.
Up next the Trojans will take this show on the road as they face off against Oklahoma State at 11 AM on Saturday, February 10, at Greenwood Tennis Center in Stillwater, Okla.
