No. 60 Women’s Tennis Continues Big Ten Play at No. 6 Michigan and Michigan State


UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – The No. 60 Penn State women’s tennis team (11-10, 3-4 B1G) hit the road to Ann Arbor play on No. 6 Michigan (17-3, 9-0 B1G) on Saturday, April 15 at noon, before traveling to East Lansing to compete against Michigan State (8-12, 1-8 B1G) on Sunday, April 16 at 11 a.m. E.T.

LAST TIME OUT
 
The Nittany Lions competed in two Big Ten match ups last weekend. On Friday, the Blue and White lost to Iowa 4-3. Penn State, however, bounced back to gain a 4-2 win over Nebraska on Sunday for Senior Day. 
 
No. 63 Sofiya Chekhlystova was honored as the woman Penn State Student Athlete of the Week for her play during the weekend. She picked up two singles against Samantha Mannix of Iowa, 6-2, 6-1, and Isabel Adrover Gallego of Nebraska, 7-6 (7-3), 6-3.
 
MICHIGAN 
 
The Michigan women’s tennis team picked up two Big Ten wins the last weekend they competed. The Wolverines defeated Purdue, 4-0, and took the win over Indiana, 6-1. 
 
Michigan has four ranked players on their roster. Junior Jaedan Brown is No. 23, sophomore Julia Fliegner is No. 45, junior Kari Miller is No. 47 and freshman Lily Jones in No. 67.
 
Brown and Miller are also the No. 2 nationally ranked doubles duo pair. 
 
MICHIGAN STATE
 
The Michigan State women’s tennis team faced two losses the last time they competed. The Spartans faced defeat against Indiana, 4-0, and dropped their match to Purdue, 4-2.
 
Michigan State closes out its regular season against Penn State.
 
UP NEXT
 
The Penn State women’s tennis team will close out their season on the road versus Maryland on Saturday, April 22 at noon and against Rutgers on Sunday, April 23 at noon E.T.
