Tigers Open ACC Tournament Against Virginia Tech

CLEMSON, S.C. — The No. 42 Clemson women’s tennis team (15-11, 3-10 ACC) will face Virginia Tech (10-13, 1-12 ACC) on Wednesday at 10 a.m. at Cary Tennis Park to open the 2023 ACC Tournament. Clemson enters the tournament as the 12 seed, while the Hokies are the 13 seed.
This is the third consecutive season in which the Tigers and Hokies will match up in the ACC Tournament, with the teams splitting the previous two matchups. Clemson is 25-8 all-time against the Hokies. In their last matchup, Clemson took down Virginia Tech in a thrilling 4-3 match on Friday, Mar. 31 earlier this season.
Clemson is looking to advance to the second round of ACC Tournament for a second consecutive season after defeating the Hokies in the first round in 2022 by a score of 4-3. The Tigers have won eight ACC Tournament Championships in the history of the program, but have not raised the conference trophy since 2008.
Clemson has been led by Dani Medvedeva, who holds a 17-6 singles record and the No. 104 ITA singles ranking. Sophia Hatton (15-6) and Cristina Mayorova (16-8) have all been staples of the Tigers’ success this season.
