Tigers Take On Miami in Second Round of ACC Tournament

CLEMSON, S.C. โ€”ย The No. 42 Clemson womenโ€™s tennis team (16-11, 3-10 ACC) will face No. 13 Miami (14-6, 9-4 ACC) on Thursday at 10 a.m. at Cary Tennis Park in the second round of the 2023 ACC Tournament. The 12th seeded Tigers earned the right to take on the five-seed Hurricanes when they took down Virginia Tech by a score of 4-3 in the first round on Wednesday. That match recap can be found here.

Clemson is 4-34 all-time against the Hurricanes. Miami takes a 21-match win streak into Thursdayโ€™s meeting, with the Tigers last claiming victory in the series in 2000. Miami travelled to Clemson earlier this season and knocked off the Tigers 7-0. The two teams have met thrice in the ACC Tournament with Miami claiming all three wins.

Clemson is looking to advance to the quarterfinals of ACC Tournament for the first time since 2017. The Tigers have won eight ACC Tournament Championships in the history of the program, but have not raised the conference trophy since 2008.

Clemson has been led by Dani Medvedeva, who holds a 18-6 singles record and the No. 113 ITA singles ranking. Eleni Louka picked up the highest ranked win of her career on Wednesday when she took down Virginia Techโ€™s No. 49 Ozlem Uslu in straight sets, 6-2, 6-1. Sophia Hatton (15-7) and Cristina Mayorova (17-8) have also been staples of the Tigersโ€™ success this season.
