PISCATAWAY, N.J. – The No. 29 Wisconsin women’s tennis team took down the Rutgers Scarlet Knights, 4-1, on April 20 at the Livingston Tennis Center
Doubles began with its usual pairings as they came out in full force. Xinyu Cai and Ellison Reynoldson had some huge plays during their set to vanquish their opponents to a 6-0 score. Maria Sholokhova and Alina Mukhortova, who haven’t played together since late March, followed up with a triumphant 6-1 win to clinch the doubles point for the team.
On the singles court, Xinyu Cai paved the way for the Badgers by winning the first point in straight sets, 6-1, 6-3. Ariel Johnson followed up right behind her teammate with a huge win in yet another straight-set match, 6-2, 6-4. Finally, after breezing through her first 6-1 set, Alina Mukhortova fought back against her opponent to clinch a 7-5 second set and grab the win for the Badgers.
