SEATTLE – Washington Women’s Tennis showed up in their Wednesday Whites for their matinee matches against the Seattle University Redhawks. They started off the match by securing the doubles point and carried that momentum through singles where they added six wins for a 7-0 victory. The Huskies are now 8-3 in the regular season.
Washington took the early lead with two wins at second and third doubles. Sarah-Maude Fortin and Erika Matsuda got the first win, over Quintana/Huang (SU) at third doubles without losing a game. Jennifer Kerr and Astrid Olsen followed in their teammates’ footsteps by clinching the doubles point with a 6-0 win at second singles over Fehr/Tavcar.
The Dawgs went on to earn six straight first set wins. Shortly after, they turned these into match wins by sweeping Seattle U in all sets.
Astrid Olsen won first at No. 3, losing just one game to Lola Tavcar, 6-0, 6-1. Within minutes, 93rd-ranked Jennifer Kerr had a 6-1, 6-1 mirror set win at No. 4 singles over Mireia Fehr. Erika Matsuda got the clincher with a 6-0, 6-3 win at No. 6 singles over Shuanghui Huang.

Sarah-Maude Fortin lost just one game in No. 2 singles and went on to defeat Liliya Dimova, 6-0, 6-1. Melissa Sakar mirrored her teammate in No. 5 singles by defeating Jade Quintana 6-1, 6-0. 100th-ranked Hikaru Sato secured the sweep for the Dawgs with 6-2, 6-4 victories over Elena Kraleva in No. 1 singles.
The Huskies have a huge weekend coming at the Nordstrom Tennis Center starting on Friday, Mar. 3, when they take on UCLA at 1:30 p.m.
