No. 25 Badgers head to Boise State for weekend games


MADISON, Wis. – Coming off of two home wins at the Nielsen Tennis Stadium on Thursday, the No. 25 Wisconsin women’s tennis team heads to Idaho for games against Washington and Boise State. The team faces Washington on Saturday at 3 p.m. (CT) and Boise State on Sunday at 11:30 a.m. (CT).
 
Here are five things to know:
 
1. KNOW THE OPPONENTS: Washington is undefeated on the season and has a record of 4-0. The Huskies are coming off a 6-1 win against Portland State on Sunday, Jan. 29. Washington has one ranked doubles team in No. 56 Sarah-Maude Fortin and Erika Matsuda. Boise State also boasts an undefeated, 3-0, record. The Broncos came away with a 7-0 win against Lewis-Clark State on Saturday, Jan. 28.  

2.LOOKING BACK: The Badgers have only played Washington one other time in school history, which was a 4-3 loss back on Feb. 8, 2002. Wisconsin has also faced off against Boise State once, on Jan. 22, 1999, which saw the Badgers beat the Broncos on the road 9-0.

 

3. RECAPPING THE WEEK: The No. 25 Wisconsin women’s tennis team brought the intensity to the Nielsen Tennis Stadium on Thursday in its first home matches of the year. The Badgers started the day off with a 5-2 win over Northern Illinois and followed that up with a 7-0 win over Milwaukee. Ava Markham, Maria Sholokhova, Alina Mukhortova and Charmaine Seah all finished the day undefeated.
