No. 22 NC State heads to Boston College for regular season finale

RALEIGH NC State will conclude the 2022-23 regular season on Friday when they head north to Boston College.

The Wolfpack (14-8, 8-3) and Eagles will meet at 3 pm in Chestnut Hill.

NC State has never lost to Boston College, with 20 consecutive wins over the Eagles. BC is the final test for the Pack before the ACC Tournament begins next week in Cary.

“We can’t take Boston College lightly,” sophomore Braden Shick said. “We have to finish out the ACC strong, we want to get good seeding for the tournament. It’s championship season as (coach) likes to see and good teams are just getting started.”

Last time out: NC State knocked off in-state rival Wake Forest, 4-2 in the home finale. The Pack needed one of two wins in the final two matches to clinch. Sophomore Braden Shick battled back from down three to get a win on court four in straight sets. The win snapped a seven-game losing streak to the Demon Deacons.

Pack in the Rankings:  NC State comes in at No. 22 in the latest ITA Rankings. The doubles duo of Robin Catry and Luca Staeheli were ranked No. 18, while Joe Wayand and Rafa Izquierdo Luque were ranked No. 21. On the singles side Izquierdo Luque is ranked No. 54 and Staeheli came in at No. 73.

Scouting the Eagles: Boston College (7-12, 0-10) is coming off a 6-1 win over Merrimack College. Their top singles player is Gereon Heitmann, who is 7-3 overall.
