No. 20 Men’s Tennis Victorious in Pac-12 Opener

LOS ANGELES– On Friday afternoon, No. 20 Arizona State men’s tennis (13-6, 1-0) downed No. 24 UCLA (7-5, 0-1) 4-2 behind singles wins from Bor Artnak, Roi Ginat, and Constantinos Koshis– whose first singles win of the season clinched the match for ASU. After Friday’s Pac-12 opener, the Sun Devils are now 1-0 in Pac-12 play and 8-2 in their last 10 matches. 

The California road trip concludes with the Sun Devils taking on No. 47 USC on Sunday, March 24 at Marks Stadium at 1 p.m. MST. 

Freshman Bor Artnak won in straight sets at the second position on Friday and picked up his team-best 11th singles win of the season. Alongside Max McKennon, the duo won their ninth doubles match as a pair. 

ASU won the doubles point with wins on courts one and two, after Jacob Bullard and Murphy Cassone won the tiebreak 11-9 on court two to clinch the doubles point. The duo is now 6-1 in doubles this season. 

Cassone fell on court one, but a quick win from Artnak on court two and Ginat on court five had ASU ahead 3-1. Bullard fell in the third set to allow UCLA to pull within one, but on court six, Constantinos Koshis prevailed and defeated his opponent in the third set to clinch the match.
