No. 20 Florida to Host No. 9 Tennessee and No. 7 Georgia


GAINESVILLE, Fla. – No. 20 Florida men’s tennis hosts No. 9 Tennessee Friday, April 7 and No. 7 Georgia Sunday, April 9 this weekend at the Alfred A. Ring Tennis Complex for the first time since March 2021.
 
Friday’s match against the Volunteers is set for a 5 p.m. first serve, while Sunday’s showdown with the Bulldogs will begin at noon.
 
The Gators (12-8, 5-3 SEC) and Volunteers (16-6, 6-2 SEC) meet for the first time since last season’s SEC Tournament (W, 4-1) and for the first time in Gainesville since 2021 (W, 5-2). Florida owns the all-time series advantage 47-30 and is 10-2 under Head Coach Bryan Shelton.
 
Florida is facing Georgia (14-5, 8-0 SEC) for the first time since the 2022 regular season (W, 4-0) and travels to Gainesville for the first time since 2021 (W, 7-0). Across the all-time series, Florida trails 44-64, but has won the last five matches over UGA.
 
PROMOTIONS
On Friday night, the first 40 fans will receive a Florida Tennis tumbler. The first 70 fans will receive Florida Tennis cooler bags on Sunday afternoon.
 
DOMINANT DOUBLES
Florida is the only team in the SEC and just one of four teams in the nation to boast two top-20 ranked doubles pairs. The Gators have the won doubles point in 15 of 20 matches this season and 33-14 overall in dual match doubles. Additionally, Florida’s record when winning the doubles point this season is 11-4.
 
MIDWEEK SWEEP

The Gators are coming off a pair of 4-0 victories over Eastern Kentucky on Wednesday after narrowly falling to No. 25 Texas A&M, 3-4, last Saturday. All nine players on the Florida roster played across the two matches.
 
RANKED-FOES
Prior to these two top-10 matches, Florida has faced 15 ranked opponents out of their 20 matches this spring. Against top-10 opponents, the Gators are 1-3 with the one win coming over No. 10 Baylor at the ITA National Team Indoor Championship in February.

SCOUTING THE OPPONENTS

Tennessee has won 10 of its last 12 matches and enters Gainesville on a four-match winning streak. The Volunteers are coming off a strong home stand beating then-No. 9 Columbia, No. 29 Texas A&M, No. 12 Mississippi State and No. 4 Kentucky. In both doubles and singles, the Vols are led by Johannus Monday (No. 2 in singles, No. 2 in doubles) and holds a 15-1 record in dual play.
