No. 2 Women’s Tennis Hosts No. 6 Georgia


The No. 2 ranked UNC Women’s Tennis team hosts No. 6 Georgia in a non-conference clash on Wednesday, Feb. 1 at 5 p.m. at the Cone-Kenfield Tennis Center.

The 9-0 Tar Heels are coming off a 2-0 weekend following two 4-0 wins over Maryland and Charlotte during the ITA Kick-Off Weekend in Chapel Hill.

Senior Elizabeth Scotty lead Carolina this past weekend, wining Friday vs Maryland 6-2, 6-3, and Saturday 6-4, 6-1, along with picking up a win with doubles partner Reese Brantmiere defeating the No. 21 ranked doubles team of No. 21 Margaux Maquet and Lucia Quiterio of Charlotte.

The Bulldogs are coming off a 2-0 weekend as well, taking down Stetson 4-0 and Notre Dame 4-1 during the ITA Kick-Off Weekend.

Both the Bulldogs and the Tar Heels qualified for the 2023 ITA National Team Indoor Championships at the Nordstrom Tennis Center on the campus of the University of Washington, in Seattle, Wash. Feb. 10-13.

 

Carolina has won the last three 2023 ITA National Team Indoor Championships and six in the last ten seasons.
