KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – The No. 18 Tennessee women’s tennis team excelled in its Sunday doubleheader against Wake Forest and Bellarmine at Goodfriend Tennis Center. The Lady Volunteers posted a 6-1 victory over the Demon Deacons, before sweeping the Knights, 4-0, to close out the day. The Big Orange moved to 4-0 on the young season.
“Overall, I am just really excited about how our girls performed,” head coach Alison Ojeda said. “They have been training really hard and to come out and execute against two great teams says a lot.”
Tennessee 6, Wake Forest 1
Tennessee took the doubles point to get out to an early lead and carried its momentum into singles after two consecutive victories. Alana Wolfberg and Esther Adeshina secured a 6-3 doubles win against Krystal Blanch and Casie Wooten, while Catherine Aulia and Lauren Anzalotta notched another 6-3 win against Sankavi Gownder and Whitley Pate.
In singles, No. 115 Elza Tomase put Tennessee on the board first with a 6-3, 6-3 win against Nevena Carton. Anzalotta collected a 6-2, 6-3 victory against Krystal Blanch. No. 92 Cabezas cruised past No. 42 Cassie Wooten in a 6-3, 6-3 result. Aulia followed suit, adding a 6-3, 6-4 win over Marcella Cruz. No. 91 Wolfberg rounded up singles action by taking down Brook Killingsworth in 7-6(4), 6-4 fashion. Eleonora Molinaro was the lone Lady Vol to drop a singles match. Sankavi Gownder defeated Molinaro 2-6, 2-6.
Tennessee 4, Bellarmine 0
Two Tennessee doubles pairs put up victories to tally the opening point over the Knights. Cabezas and Tomase edged a 6-1 win against Ekaterina Tikhonko and Yeva Kramarova. Leyla Britez Risso and Eleonora Molinaro were the other duo to secure a 6-3 win, doing so against Lillie Willis and Nikola Kollaritsch.
The Lady Volunteers were quick to add three singles wins to cap off the match. No. 100 Molinaro beat Yeva Kramarova, 6-0, 6-0. Tomase defeated Erica Kanna Hagi in a 6-0, 6-2 effort, while Cabezas clinched a 6-0, 6-1 victory against Ekaterina Tikhonko.

Throughout the two matches today, Tennessee logged a total of ten wins on the day and now has 26 on the season.
